About Canine Cardio

PROUDLY SERVING THE PROVIDENCE METRO AREA SINCE 2012

My name is Clayton Roth and I’m the owner and creator of Canine Cardio Company. Back in 2012, I was coming off completing a marathon and was the proud owner of high energy black lab mix named Lucy. One day I laced up my running shoes, put a leash on Lucy and we were off. It was so nice having a four legged running partner. It was a great bonding experience for us, and more importantly, it tired her out!

Around the same time, I read an article about a gentleman who had a dog running business in Chicago. I was inspired. Though I already had a full time job, I thought that combining two things I love, running and dogs, might be a chance to find the perfect career. I got to work. I did research, became professionally certified and canine CPR certified. After months of hard work and preparation, Canine Cardio was born.

Initially, I fit dog runs and walks around my job. As I got busier, this became more and more difficult. Finally, in 2013, I decided to make this my full-time job. It’s been an amazing adventure. I have learned a ton and continue to grow in this profession every day. My incredible team of runners and I have worked with many wonderful dogs and people over the last seven years. We take the responsibility of caring for our canine clients very seriously. In return, our loyal customers have continued to spread the word about us, and for that I will always be grateful. We even won a Best of Rhode Island award in 2014. That is all due to our customers. Thank you!

Meet the Runners

Clayton Roth

Owner & Chief Executive Dog Runner

My love of dogs and running blossomed when I was about 12 years old. Our Beagle/Miniature Collie mix, Nellie, became a fixture on my paper route as my running partner. As soon as I put the yellow and orange paper carrier sack around my shoulder, she knew it was time to head out the door. While I never did quite train her to bring people’s papers to their door, we both got a nice run in every day and my customers got their papers a lot sooner.

These days, my Black Lab, Lucy and I go for off-leash adventures every day. Running is a great way to keep her in shape and relaxed. Remember, a dog with something constructive to do, will be less likely to find something destructive to do.

I started Canine Cardio Company in 2012 to help people with highly active dogs who may need assistance giving their pups the exercise they need. We currently serve numerous clients in the Providence Metro area and continue to grow all the time. I have heard countless stories from our clients about how their dog’s behavior has vastly improved since putting their paws to the pavement with us.

In my spare time,  I enjoy reading, movies, concerts and spending time with my wife and dogs, Lucy and Jasper.

I am a Professionally Certified Dog Walker, canine and human CPR certified, insured, bonded, a member of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters and a finisher of numerous marathons and ultra marathons.
